How do you use the leftover panettone after Christmas? Send to the bin? Or just having dried cake?
Making French toast is the best way to use the leftover panettone. It’s fluffy and tender inside and sweet! Well balanced with dried fruits and cinnamon flavour!
Ingredients
Serves 4
4 large slice of panettone (around 5-6cm thick)
4 eggs
100ml milk
1 tablespoon of cinnamon
Butter
Maple syrup or whipped cream
Method
1. Whisk together eggs, milk and cinnamon in a mixing bowl or deep plate.
2. Add the sliced panettone to the mixture and leave to soak for 2-3 minute and turning to allow both sides until all the liquid has been absorbed.
3. Heat the butter in a large frying pan and add the panettone when the butter is bubbling. Cook over medium heat for 3 minute each side until becoming golden.
4. Serve panettone with berries and maple syrup or whipped cream.
